How Long Does Egress Window Installation Take?
Most single egress window installations are done in one day — usually 6 to 8 hours from the first shovel to final cleanup. That covers excavation, concrete cutting, the window and well, drainage, and basic interior trim.
Multiple windows in the same home add about half a day each. Deep excavations, frozen winter ground, or stone foundations can stretch the timeline, and we'll flag that at the estimate so there are no surprises.
Here is how the day runs. First we dig out the well area and pull the soil aside. Then we cut the opening in your foundation — a clean poured-concrete cut takes about one to two hours. Next we set the steel lintel, place the window, and attach the well. After that we add the gravel, the drain line, and backfill the soil. We finish the inside with trim and paint before we leave.
A few things add time. A second window adds about half a day. Frozen winter ground is slower to break, so the digging takes longer. Deep wells, stone foundations, or tight access can push a job into a second day. We look at all of this at the free estimate and give you a real date — not a guess.
